Hypnotherapy and Hypnosis
Changing Lives!

Why Does It Work?

Your mind is basically made up of two parts.  The conscious mind is very critical of events and analyzes everything.  Consider the subconscious mind as the storage area where your emotions, responses to events and beliefs are located. Ever heard the term "baggage"?

Roughly your mind is 10% conscious and 90% subconscious in terms of communicating with the outside world and people.  Someone can say to you "Hey quit smoking, it's bad for you" and you know this is true consciously but yet you persist smoking.  Why?

There is a critical factor located between your conscious and subconscious mind.  Think of this as a guard.  When inputs are received, the guard acts as a filter and reports the information/stimulus to your subconscious mind.  In the smoking example, the subconscious may respond to the guard by saying "I'm not quitting because it makes me cool!".  The guard turns to the conscious mind as says no way.  Thus you keep smoking.

What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is the key to change as it bypasses the critical factor in the conscious mind, allowing for the reprogramming and exploration of the subconscious mind. The benefits include and are not limited to: the changing of unwanted habits, relief of stress and anxiety, memory of the past including past lives, and many others.

Perhaps unnoticed, everyday you and others enter a trance state.  For example it could be zoning out on the freeway and suddenly realizing where you are.  All Hypnosis is self-hypnosis and a Hypnotist is simply a facilitator/guide in helping you into that state of mind.

The conscious mind may want to make changes but the subconscious is like a parent.  It is the part of you that you must change in order to give the conscious mind (actions) permission for those changes.  Without changing the subconscious, you can try a diet or try quitting smoking but quickly go back to your old ways.

What is NLP?

NLP is the study of Human Excellence. It is the leading mind technology for accelerated human change and is the same technology that Psychology Today Magazine called "A New Standard for Psychology!"  It is widely used in sports therapy, and all areas of business and education, and has been studied and used by Oprah Winfrey, Tony Robbins, the United States Army, Law Enforcement Agencies, even U.S. Presidents.

It is the gathering of information about a person to make models, based on the internal experience and information processing of the people being studied and modeled, including the part that is outside of their conscious awareness. The word neuro refers to an understanding of the brain and its functioning. Linguistic relates to the communication aspects (both verbal and non-verbal) of our information processing. Programming is the behavioral and thinking patterns we all go through. There is a relationship between perceptions, thinking and behavior that is neuro-linguistic in nature. The relationship is operating all the time, no matter what we are doing, and it can be studied by exploring our internal or subjective experience. The formal definition of Neuro-Linguistic Programming is: The study of the structure of subjective experience.

In plain terms (well as plain as I can make them) NLP techniques enable a practitioner to model your specific learned behaviors and the way you think.  This establishes the best way for the practitioner to connect with you and help you change patterns.  It provides methods for modifying and replacing unwanted behavior, traumas, phobias and more.

The Result

The powerful combination of both disciplines allows the practitioner and you to establish a much deeper understanding and rapport with which to make lasting changes than with Hypnosis alone.

NLP is performed before, during, and after Hypnosis induction.  However, I would say that the most potent factor in making lasting behavioral changes is the use of NLP techniques during the actual trance state as the subconscious is wide open!
